The Center of the Milky Way

The above image was taken by Spitzer Space Telescope showing the hundreds of thousands of stars in the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way. In visible light, the stars in this region are obscured by the large amount of dust along the line of sight. However, by observing in the infrared region of the spectrum, Spitzer was able to image the stars in this region, creating this stunning image.
