Circumstellar Debris Disks

After completing a survey of 22 nearby stars, the Hubble Space Telescope has discovered two debris disks that appear similar to the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy rocks lying outside the orbit of Neptune in our solar system. These disks are known to surround the types of stars that have planets and habitable zones. The discovery of these two systems puts the total number of stars known to possess these disks at nine, including our own Sun.
