Commemorating 60 Years in the Atomic Era

In an effort to raise awareness of the dangers of nuclear weapons, a number of engineers, artists, and pyrotechnicians of the Simnuke Project recently simulated the detonation of an atomic bomb in the desert of Nevada. The detonation occurred at 5.29.45 am on July 16, exactly 60 years after the first nuclear bomb was detonated by the Manhattan Project. The group is also organizing an exhibit of nuclear-related art and the planting of 60 trees near Los Alamos. View a video of the event here.
