Earth from Above

In 1996, Yann Arthus-Bertrand launched the "La Terre vue du ciel" (Earth from Above) project, which has since proceeded under the patronage of UNESCO. The project images various areas of Earth, including sculpted gardens, coral reefs, mountains, and deserts, all from high in the sky. The images are spectacular, and were displayed in various cities around the world in 2000. However, Yann's websites continue to display these images (here and here, by country), also available for download as desktop images (here and here), for everyone to appreciate the stunning beauty of our planet.
