2MASS Galaxy Sky

The image above displays over one million of the brightest galaxies detected by 2MASS (Two Micron All Sky Survey), showing an intricate web of galaxy clusters and voids, much like the "Cosmic web" seen in the Millennium Simulation images. The blue band across the center of the image is caused by the presence of the disk of the Milky Way.
